4. Exhibition success in 2008

"Jamie Primrose has developed a growing reputation and an ever-expanding band of collectors snapping up his work" - The Glasgow Herald, October 2008

Following his sell-out ‘Serenity’ exhibition of Edinburgh cityscapes in July 2008, where 35 original artworks were sold in just 8 days, Jamie Primrose has recently had his best-ever selling exhibition - continuing this outstanding success and going from strength to strength throughout the current economic crisis, with his original artworks in great demand.

‘Streams of Light - Atmospheric lochs, seascapes and river cities’ at The Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh in October 2008 outperformed all past exhibitions in terms of value of paintings sold over the one week exhibition period. This featured spectacular seascapes from both the East and West coasts of Scotland and stunning cityscapes including Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Venice.

JAMIE PRIMROSE Contemporary Scottish Artist

Since only returning to his home of Edinburgh in 2003 to become a professional artist, (following a fine art degree from Newcastle University in 1994, then many years overseas, and in London), Jamie Primrose has already established himself as one of Scotland’s most prolific, talented and prominent contemporary artists.

Hosting his own highly successful art exhibitions in Edinburgh and London (fifteen to date) over the past five years continues to be an extremely rewarding and expanding outlet for him.

In addition to owning beautiful paintings, clients are now purchasing his work as an ideal longer term investment in this current economic climate - as these originals continue to rise in value year by year, with substantially increased demand.

The artist’s limited edition prints are also sought-after - with two exclusive artist proofs each raising thousands of pounds in 2008 for Children’s 1st and Back-Up trust charities earlier this year.

Jamie Primrose’s artworks can be seen in a selection of prestigious galleries in the UK and are also attracting an international audience -with his paintings displayed in many exclusive private and corporate collections across Europe, the USA, Australia and in Hong Kong.

The artist also has a current waiting list for new private and corporate artwork commissions to be started from August 2009.

Jamie Primrose’s latest exhibition outperformed all past shows in terms of value of paintings sold over the exhibition week.

This collection included iridescent beaches and spectacular sunsets around Tyninghame, Yellowcraigs, Seacliff and The Bass Rock in East Lothian. From the west coast of Scotland there were also dramatic, moody watery vistas and breathtaking seascapes looking towards Lismore and Ardnamurchan.

The artist’s ‘water’ theme continued with impressionistic cityscape scenes, including the early morning ripples and gleaming twilight reflections on the rivers and waterways of Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Venice. Additionally, due to high demand, a new collection of his highly sought-after Edinburgh winter sunsets behind the city’s magnificent architecture were also on display.

"Serenity" - Ethereal vistas of Edinburgh - sell-out success
Friday 4th - Saturday 12th July 2008
The Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh

"Serenity" featured over 50 breathtaking new oils and striking Indian inks of the capital.

Jamie’s trademark of capturing the unique changing light, atmosphere and colours from the sky onto the landscape is beautifully showcased in his work, as he focuses on winter light at its most dramatic and on the most transient, atmospheric times of day - sunrise and sunset.

In his highly sought-after ethereal cityscapes Jamie captured the early morning light and mist looking towards The Pentlands and rising over Arthur’s Seat and Calton Hill, and the tranquil shimmering dawn reflections on The Shore and The Water of Leith.

He also focused on the twinkling of the first evening lights against the bold silhouette of the city’s magnificent architecture and on vivid powerful sunsets in the evening winter sky. Towards twilight, he then epitomises the very last glimmers of light shining through towards some of the city’s finest iconic viewpoints and lesser-known spectacular vistas in both the Old and New Town - producing a wonderful serene quality to his original artworks.
